    Default Problem with computer..

I am trying to fix my mother in laws old computer for my son. When I try to boot it up it gets to the XP splash screen and then shuts down and starts over and just loops that over and over.
I have replaced the power supply so I have eliminated that as the problem. Anyone else know what else could cause this?
    Thanks for any info.

Try taking one of the sticks of ram out, see if it will boot that way, if that wont work, try the other one, might be failing on BAD RAM. Sounds like a definite hardware issue, the machine is crashing. If not RAM, could be CPU or Motherboard.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode Ricky? Hold down the F8 key before the Windows logo comes up, and from there choose Safe Mode and see if it will boot into that configuration. Once there, do a restart from the Start menu and see if it will go into Windows by itself now. Sometimes it just needs a proper shutdown to come back to life.

It only has one stick of RAM but I moved it to the other slot and it booted long enough to get to the desktop but never "finished" and the rebooted again. If the safe mode tip does not work I will get another stick of RAM and see what happens. Thanks for the help guys.
