wow, new graphics card + cpu upgrade, GTL smokes!!

just upgraded my socket 939 MB with probably the max hardware it can deal with; AMD FX60 cpu & an nvidia 8800GTS graphics card. cpu was hard to find, but fairly cheap considering what they cost new, it was the fastest dual core socket 939 chip you could get...plus very overclockable if necc


but *wow*, I can run all details on full in GTL, swaying trees, hi-detailed shadows etc and get absolutely solid frame rates...even did a night race with 24 other cars & it dropped to 30fps right at the start, otherwise smooth as butter...



this should hold me over for a couple years, until they come out with gawd knows what but won't have to upgrade for a bit, I'd think.

Fx 60 is a really nice cpu...I have one
I'm running the 7950 card and need to upgrade...I might try the new ATI card when its released if it's as great as they claim it will be.
Supposedly faster than the top of the line 8800GTX and cheaper too!

tigerdirect, they still have a bunch from what I saw....also the 4600+ & 4800+ are nearly the same, and are cheaper

Bob, ATI headquarters is not far from where I live, I would get one to supprt the "local boys" but to be honest, that much firepower would be overkill for my system right now....that's why I didn't go for the GTX ( well, the $$ counts as well )

was going to buy a new PC but figured I'd max this one out for now & wait a couple years

GTL is a stunning looking game with good hardware for sure! You will enjoy it. The Riverside track looks awesome
