The Champion Motorsports Lemans GT Challenge Series ran this week at Road One, the excellent Fantasy Racing Circuit based in Calgary, Alberta, CA -- and created originally for N2003 by our own Alex Ulleri. Alex has been around the Champion Community over the years and raced with us and when he was originally putting together his N2003 tracks he was working with our group on the track and several members of Champion were involved in providing feedback. It was a long time coming and too long frankly before we ran a competitive race on one of his great circuits. Thanks to conversion efforts in the rFactor community we were able to run our GT Challenge Race this week at Road One, and will run our 4-Class Lemans Race there next week as well.
Don Fryman Leads the Field on the Grid at Road One in this Week's GT Challenge Race
There were 35 entries in this week's race making for another very strong GT Challenge Event with lots of fast cars and competition available throughout both the GT-1 and GT-2 classes. Don Fryman would have another great run and win overall and in the GT-1 class, with Stephen King having his best finish of the year in 2nd behind Don. Dwayne Jans would finish 3rd to complete the GT-1 podium.
In the GT-2 class Drew McLean continued to flex his racing muscles with another class victory and 8th overall in the event. Tim Collier would drive his BMW to a 2nd place finish with a strong run for the Champion Motorsports team, and Tim's best result this year as well. Newcomer John Jogan would finish in 3rd with a very strong debut of his own.
As previously mentioned we have another Road One race scheduled for this week as the 4-Class Series will hit the track for what is surely going to be one of the better events of the year. Following that event the GT-Challenge Series will be at Dijon, but not until mid July as there will be a little break in between the next events due to the 2nd event in the newly formed ILMS Endurance League; which will be at Spa!
