The Champion Motorsports 4-Class Lemans Series visited Road One again this week for one of our best races to date in the season, and we saw a mix of three first time winners in the race, as well as continued dominance, in the GT-1 class, but the gap closing by two teammates as they continue to step up their games.
Drew McLean would start on the overall pole for the race in his LM-P1, and look to be the man to beat as he's consistently been fast and at the top of the rankings every week in the races. But he would have trouble late in the race, and a very fast John Basara would get his first win in the series. The win had to be special for John as he was a key part of the Carpe Noctem Design team that developed our wonderful mod.

Uranus Racing's Stephen King would get his first class win of the year as well in the event, after working very hard and partering up with Jim Best, Tom Cinnamon, and Kevin Cinnamon on the Uranus team. The Uranus team would actually sweep the first two spots in LM-P2 with Kevin Cinnamon finishing 2nd. Claro Palma had a strong run to finish 3rd in class.
The GT-1 Class continued to see dominance from Don Fryman. Don was the pole sitter in class and would be very fast again to take the win, by leading every lap in the class. But, the gap is closing as the Champion Motorsports Duo of Mike Tyler and Tim Collier continue to raise their performances, with a dual podium finish for the Carpe Noctem -- Bad Boys Vettes. Mike and Tim have been working great together on setups and they are getting ever so close to breaking through for a victory in GT-1.

The GT-2 class would also see a first time winner as James Goldston, a relatively new member to the series would grab his first win with a near flawless performance. James has had a few starts in the series, and some mixed results, but it all came together for him at Road One. Behind him on the podium in 2nd place was another newcomer to the series Paul Schuman. Paul ran a great race in his debut and would finish ahead of the GT-2 points Leader David Anderson in the Champion Motorsports entry in 3rd place. This was the last regular season event for approximately 1-month as we now turn our attention to the 2nd race in the Champion Motorsports and VOR sponsored ILMS Endurance Series. Race #2 will be at Spa, and the next couple of weeks will be full of preperation leading up to the 6 Hour Team based event.
