Neal Johnson wins World Division GTC "Thunder down under" at Adelaide GP!
Neal took pole, fast lap, and led 48 of the 56 lap event at the trecherous Adelaide Steet circuit. Brian farmer and Steen Franta starting 2nd and 3rd respectively, would "split" Neal on the start with Franta leeding the pack into turn 1 followed closely by Farmer and Johnson.
Farmers 2nd place would soon end as on the 1st time into Wakefield corner he out broke himself allowing Johnson to easily get by, as well as sustained major aero damage. It would not be long before the hard charging Jerry McComas would wrestle 3rd away from Farmer demoting him to 4th.
Soon after this on lap 5 Neal Johnson would make the most important pass of the race and take the leed from Franta, never looking back.
Steen Nielsen and Scott Clark had quite a battle in the opening laps.
However, on lap 15 Scott was caught out by the viscous 1st chicane and ended his race abruptly.
Team Barista's Brian Farmer having slowly clawed his way back to a strong 3rd made the mistake of going offline with an ill handling damaged car to lap another driver and made slight contact with the barrier. He thought he would be able to contiue on as he still had fire in the engine but then realized to his shock and horror that he was "beached" on the horribly high curbing at Adelaide. Oh well, if your going to get stuck at Adelaide you might as well have a great view!
