Wayne Funston wins CMS iRacing Mustang Challenge Race #1 at Watkins Glen

Congratulations to Wayne Funston for winning the CMS 2011 iRacing Mustang Challenge season opener tonight at Watkins Glen Boot. Wayne drove an excellent race and battled Devin Obrien and Dan Burke for the win.

The season got off to a great start with several CMS veterans and iRacers taking the track together for the race. Devin Obrien would qualify on pole for the race with Wayne Funston starting alongside on the front row. Devin would get a great start and lead the first 6 laps of the race, but Wayne was in close pursuit and looking for the opportunity to make the move. It would come and he would never look back, leading the next 14 laps to victory.

Dan Burke moved up from 4th on the grid to capture 2nd place in the race, with a great run of his own. He would finish a little over 8 secnods behind Wayne Funston. Devin Obrien would secure a great finish with a podium in 3rd place. Daniel Weimann drove from the back of the grid to an impressive 4th place finish, and in his first iRacing event with CMS Tom Cinnamon would finish an impressive 5th place.

Next week the iRacers will move to Road America Full for the 2nd event of the season. We plan to have a lot of fun with this series so come guys, get off the couch and come join us for some great Mustang action at some very fun and challenging road courses.
