    Thumbs up Virginia International | 2010 NALMS S.2 | GT-Class

Hein Houweling (GT Class) and Tom Cinnamon (GTC Class) both take 1st place at Virginia International! On the heels of last week's very demanding course at Algarve, CMS North-American league visits a local US favorite that's known for even more turns and changes in track elevation.

Mike Tribble pursued Hein Houweling (Howling Racing 997 GT) for more than 24 laps, taking over the lead for 2 laps until lap 26. After the first series of pit stops, the GT ranks changed with Tim Collier (Champion Motorsports C6-R GT) slipping in behind the lead Porsche while Mike Tribble dropped down to 4th position. Tim Collier eventually takes 2nd behind Hein's incredible run and overall victory!

Kevin Wood was closing in on a potential GT podium finish but was plagued by a persistent Ferrari driver who coat-tailed his Corvette for most of the race. By Lap 15, the team manager of Corvette-DDP had enough, taking matters into his own hands, he leaped over the pit stall of Team Ferrari-DDP and slugged the Italian manger right on the nose. "We're not here to train your ill-prepared driver on how to race this track ... get your Ferrari off Kevin's tail !". Unfortunately none of the Italians could speak English so the relentless tailgating continued.

In the GTC class, Tom Cinnamon (Uranus Racing 997 GTC) takes the checkered flag just ahead of 2nd place finisher Kevin Cinnamon (Uranus Racing 997 GTC), showing that age and wisdom are sometimes a better weapon than youth and vigor. Both raced two wide in their undulating attacks against one another. Paul Hamilton (Miskatonic Motorsports 997 GTC) finished 3rd ... one lap ahead Stuart Barge's respectable finish in 4th. On lap 24, the unthinkable occurred when Uranus' team manager also jumped over Ferrari's pit wall, punching the Italian manager for a second time on the nose. Uranus was heard yelling "Si no-no passé des GTC Porsches a les esses". Apparently the pigeon-Italian was understood by Ferrari's DDP manager and to the satisfaction of both Uranus drivers, the Ferrari driver never repeated the same passing mistake twice.

Later in the race, the track physician refused to treat the bloody European and to everyone's chagrin, Ferrari-DDP surprised all racers by stealing 3rd place in the GT class. When the Ferrari team protested on how their manager was treated at West Virginia, the official ILMS reply was, "If you vulture for a podium finish, then you better get used to the taste of blood ... even if its your own"!
