Finally came the victory for BMW thanks to the brilliant work of Tom Mountjoy this week in the Historics DRM division here at CMS, and for BMW and Tom it was saving the best for last with the win coming in the season finale at Monza.

Unfortunately we lost 3 competitors on the first lap, (Dave Slee, Wayne Fitzgerald and Manuel S.) over the defection of James Tannat for a connection lost at the start of the race.

Eric Elliot immediately took the lead and was closely followed by Tom Mountjoy, and behind them the Ford Capri´s of Gabe Zamponi and Lenny Trapp chased. Eric dominated the race until he went off the track damaging his 935 which forced him to make a pit stop to repair the damages, leaving the way clear for Tom to route to his first victory of the season. Behind the battle between Lenny and Gabe continued for third place until Lenny had an extra stop in the pits, leaving Gabe as the last podium place finisher, and capping off a fantastic and consistent season for Gabe as he would win the Championship officially for the series.

Thanks to all participants of this brilliant tournament and we hope to see you for the historic cars next season. We will be taking a break for the holidays through Christmas, and starting up our next season after the New Year. We are considering lots of options for the next Historics series including Power and Glory 3, rFactor 2 and others, so you will want to keep a close eye on the forums for announcements and planning as this is surely not to be missed.
