Steven and David lead PoR and CMS Rally Team into 2011!
The Rallyesim Richard Burns Rally 2011 season got under way on January 10, marking not only the return of Press on! Rallysport but also the debut of CMS Rally Team.
After more than a month off, and only one rally on tap for the week, the competition on the stages was fierce. A total of 625 crews started the Accountview Veenendaal Rally of the Mijnrally.nl Dutch Open Championships. The rally was scheduled to cover 107 kilometers and 18 stages, but the final super special was neutralized due to technical problems. The 17 remaining stages comprised 8 tarmac, 6 gravel, and 3 mixed surface specials over two days and nights. The changing surfaces and weather claimed many victims, and only 208 cars made it through to the finish.
PoR fielded a team of five drivers, including veterans Steven, Rick, Aaron, and Jerry along with our newest member Kevin. Three CMSRT drivers took the start, including PoR founding member David and new recruits Terri and Eric.
Steven and David led the scoring for each of their stables, finishing 5th and 6th in the Super 1600 class. Steven also set fastest time in class on SS13. Rick came home 105th overall and 18th in class in the debut of his 2010 Ford Fiesta Super 2000. Aaron struggled a bit in an N4 Subaru Impreza, but made it to the final control to round out the scoring for PoR. The remainder of our guys fell victim to the tricky conditions.
With only one rally available, stable points were difficult to come by. PoR scored 122, finishing 25th for the week. CMSRT's total of 86 came from David's result, putting them 36th. The season gets into full swing during the week of January 17-23 with four rallies – including the legendary Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo. Best of luck to PoR, CMSRT and all of our competitors in 2011!
