Steven Clark Wins Champion Motorsports iRacing Sportscar Championship
Champion Motorsport would like to congratulate our newest Champion, Steven Clark. Steven is the 2011 iRacing Sportscar Challenge Winner here at CMS, taking the points chase title with 165 total points over 11 races, and a clear 23 points ahead of second place Christian Oquendo.
It was a really fun series this season and one of our most challenging as well because we ran 3 different theme cars all from the American Lemans Series. The first first 3 events were in the Ford GT, and then we ran 5 races in the Corvetee C6R GT, and then the final 3 events were hosted in the Acura LMP2 car. The season saw a lot of themes and it was fun to follow. Wes Tribble and Kris Hudson dominated the early portion of the series in the Ford GT and into the first race with the Corvette taking turns winning events. Wes would have two wins and Kris would tie for a season leading 3 wins in the series.
When we moved into the second half of the season Christian Oquendo really began to flex his iRacing muscles, winning 3 races in a row, all in the Corvette. Christian races the Corvette full time in iRacing official series and it really showed as he would be the class of the Corvette Fields in our events.
We then did 3 races in the LMP car and Steven Clark would get the first win at Mosport in route to his Championship run, followed by David Anderson then winning the next two in a row. David showed that being patient and consistent in the Prototype was really important as he would win at difficult tracks Spa and Phillip Island.
But the story for this season was all about the consistency and dedication to the series from Steven Clark and he earned out Championship in a great way. Steven competed in all 11 events, and had a combined total of only 43 iRacing incidents in those races which was very low, so he drove very clean and fast. He finished in the top 5 in 10 of the 11 events and got the win at Mosport. Behind Steven in the final standings the Top 5 would be Oquendo in 2nd, Kris Hudson in 3rd, John Hyatt in 4th, and David Anderson in 5th.
Thanks to everyone that came out and raced this season in the iRacing Division on Wednesday Nights here at CMS. We will now have a little break and pause in the iRacing action for a month or so as we plan and announce our next series. Look for the most updated information on the forums and cya on the track!
