Steen Franta victorious at grueling GTC event at Portland!

After an intense qualifying battle between Steen Franta and Tiemen Bos, in the final moments of qualifying Steen took pole by a tiny .003 of a sec.

His pole efforts however would be for not, as due to a reported confusion between the yellow pit lights and the actual start lights he made a total mess of the race start, allowing the front row to run away, and causing total chaos to ensue behind.

Tiemen Bos took advantage of this and pulled out an early lead. In fact he went on to lead a total of 57 of the 72 lap event. This charge ended when his engine let go in the final laps. Steen having blown the start put his head down and managed to charge his way back to the front and would take the victory.

Jerry McComas having benefited from the chaotic start drove a brilliant race and took 2nd, followed by Brian Farmer who lost a few positions in the chaos but drove a steady careful race to squeak out a 3rd.
