    Thumbs up Petit Lemans| 2010 NALMS S.2

After losing the pole position by mere fractions of a second, Dwayne Jans [Spotted Cow Racing P2 Acura ARX-01B #51] cranks it up at Petit Lemans after lap 7, taking 1st overall and in the P2 class above 2nd place finisher in the P1 class, Philip Brown [Champion Motorsports P1 Lola Judd EX264 #05] and 2nd place finisher for the P2 class, Jerry Hamilton [HMI ARX-01B P2 Acura ARX-01B]. Jerry's handling of his Acura ARX was impressive, successfully fending off two separate attacks by two different P1 teams for over 10+ brutal laps mid race!

It was a long 2hr.+ race for Jerry McComas, but he was able to endure the pressures of time, securing 3rd place for his P1 powerhouse team, sponsored by EcoFriendly Racing ARX-02A #69. Jerry's podium finish preserves his lead in the overall P1 season championship points, as the "crucible effect" has begun, as there are a number of teams that are starting to reduce his point standing after each endurance race. The team owners of TeamUK RS Porsche Spyder #04 were elated with Joe Owens’ 3rd place finish in the P2 category, extending his lucrative racing contract by another 5 years .... bravo Joe!

Leading the GT class, Nick Kershaw [Team DDP Corvette C6-RGT #92] took his fluid racing style to the next level, winning 1st place in class over Scott Clark [Team Arctic Ford GT Ford #4] and James Sharkus [Drunken Squirrel Racing 997 GT Porsche RSR #63] who fought hard to keep his 3rd place finish. From lap 50 to 100, there was basically no change in GT class' final podium positions, as all were on tempo and neither could unseat one another.

Despite the speed and braking differential that exists between the GT and prototype cars, both classes drove with respect and great control for the majority of the race. For this week's special “pain & suffering award", the honors go to Philip Brown who had a momentary bobble on the very last lap, costing him a 1st place finish in the P1 class, handing his victory over to the Peugeot’s Four Fuger Racing Team.

There were many other drivers who were unable to complete the race due to various mechanical issues, one-off track excursions and other mishaps, though many more were simply too intimated by the track itself to even attempt to qualify at Petit Lemans last week ... as Road Atlanta is definitely not for the physically timid and mentally weak!
