iRacing News - V8 Supercars at Phillips Island
May 5, 2010 ... VICTORIA, Australia (CM) - Ryan Field cruised to an effortless win in the
inaugural race of the Champion Motorsports V8 Supercar Series. Field, who was competing
in his first ever Champion Motorsports event, led all 20 laps from the pole and claimed the
first victory of the season. Despite an early misstep, Field cruised to the finish line, a
little more than 26 seconds ahead of second place finisher Troy Dalton.

By the mid-point of the race, the podium appeared to be set with Field, Charles Stout, and
Dalton running in order. However, with only three laps remaining, Stout dropped a wheel
entering turn nine and spun. Stout recovered quickly, but Dalton was not far behind and he
took full advantage of his new found fortune.

On the last lap, Dalton was clinging to second position and utilizing every inch of the track.
Entering turn three, Stout made a bid at a bold late braking pass on the outside of turn three.
Unfortunately for Stout, he overshot the entry to turn four and the battle was over.

It was an exciting and entertaining start to the series! Thanks to all the competitors that
took part in the inaugural V8 Supercar Series event and we look forward to seeing everyone
in two weeks at Silverstone GP.
