Gary Tautfest Passes Tom Mountjoy in final turn on final lap at Road Atlanta
Congratulations to Gary Tautfest for winning tonight at Road Atlanta in the Power and Glory IROC Porsche Series, as he proved that never giving up is critical and would maximize an opportunity given to him by Tom Mountjoy for a last lap, last corner pass to take the victory, his second in a row.

The race was one of our best of the year in the IROC historics series. We had a great field and great racing throughout all night. The Road Atlanta Historic 1970 layout was awesome and just perfect for these cars. The race featured a really good battle up front between Gary Tautfest and Troy Dalton most of the night. However, both of them would get caught speeding on pit road, and hand the lead to Tom Mountjoy as well as bring several other drivers back into podium contention in the final laps. This is when things heated up with lots of position swapping and chasing in the top 5. None, however more exciting that on the last lap when Tom Mountjoy would experience an off in the final corner and allow Tautfest to catch him and make the pass, holding on for the win as the drivers finished less than a second apart.
With the win Gary Tautfest has now taken over the points lead from Stuart Barge with his second win of the season. We will be headed to the last race at Fuji in a couple of weeks with several drivers having a shot at the Championship led by Tautest, Barge, and David Anderson in the top 3 in standings at the moment. Every race has been fun and exciting and Fuji should be a great twist and a lot of fun to finish the season.
