Big Win for Eric Elliott in the CMS Historics DRM Series

Eric Elliot dominated from the start and took a brilliant victory in the beautiful layout of Kyalami, where powerful DRM cars could develop speeds at around 200 mph on this awesome and certainly very historic circuit. We have had a tremendous season in the DRM Historics Series here at CMS and this race saw another strong performance.

Chris Snow took the Pole, but he had a bad start, allowing Eric to escape from the rest of the field-
then a successive series of incidents left only 3 cars in a position to fight for the win, and two more continued but were damaged. Kyalami has a way of doing this as you can be assertive on the track, but it will bite and penalize even the slightest of mistakes and the first lap incident in the race did some damage to quite a few cars.

Elliot was followed by Lenny Trapp and third Gabriel Zamponi, then with their cars damaged and making a considerable efforts to finish came Tom Mountjoy and Tom Cavanaugh to complete the top 5.

The standings are unofficial with Gabriel Zamponi on top with 190 points followed by Gary Tautfest with 153 and Tom Mountjoy 136. This means that Gabriel has unofficially claimed the series title for the season. He has been a very consistent podium finisher all season and it has really paid off with his efforts leading the points. Congratulations on a stellar year for him as well as for all the drivers that have won races and finished on the podium in this series. It has been a great way to get an official outlet for Historic Racing here at CMS, and we are excited to see it continue to grow as we wrap up the final race in two weeks and then look to begin planning for our next season, to start after the holidays.
