Dalton wins at Martinsville.

This week the Champion Motorsports iRacing Series visited Martinsville, VA. for 150 laps of Late Model racing on the famed half mile speedway. For the second week in a row, Charles Stout sat on the pole. Stout, who was running solid times in practice, looked comfortable at the front of the field and he appeared to be well positioned to win his second race in a row. Unfortunately, Stout would bring out the second and final caution of the day after an untimely spin on lap thirteen and briefly handed over the lead to Troy Dalton.



During the subsequent caution and pit stops, Dalton pitted and Scott Bennett, who had pitted during an earlier caution, remained out and took over the top spot. When the green flag waved again, Bennett continued to hold his position at the front of the field, while a hard charging Dalton was in close pursuit.



On lap thirty-four, Dalton finally was able to take advantage of his fresher tires and he made his way past Bennett for the final lead change of the day. The race continued caution free for the next 116 laps, as Dalton gradually continued to pull away from the field on his way to securing his second victory of the season. In second place was Charles Stout, followed by Scott Bennett, Neil Frohlich, and John Hiatt.



Next week, the series heads to Summitt Point for the penultimate event of the season.
