Like today's stock market, all of CMS' top picks tumbled after the opening bell. Of the 28 drivers who started the 4-Class race at Watkins Glen, only 14 were able to finish this 2 hr. marathon.
The biggest surprise was that the top 3 finishers were from the P2 category. Dwayne Jans brought home 1st for Spotted Cow Racing in his extremely quick ARX-01B. Another strong finish by Stephen King who takes 2nd for his team Uranus Racing. A battle-weary Kevin Wood tops its off with his 3rd place finish with his RS Spyder for Team DDP Rockstar.
The next 3 finishers (after the P2 class winners) were from the P1 category ... all of which were driving the Acura ARX-02A. Scott Clark takes 1st in class in his PC60 P1, followed Larry Hansen 2nd and teammate Tony Boynton for 3rd for B&B Racing.
The GT class was brutal as they had to navigate each turn with a constant and never ending barrage of prototype attacks from behind. Special mention goes to Kevin Cinnamon and Tom Cinnamon for their brilliant 1 - 2 finish at Watkins Glen for team Uranus. So far nobody has an answer to the Cinnamon's dominance this season as their Porsche 997s have been extremely difficult to pass. David Ortiz secures third, earning some much needed points with his beautiful Mex Racing F430GT.
One of our most talented racers found himself last this time amongst the finishers. James Sharkus brought up the rear with his Porsche 997GT, but still finishing in the points (6th in class). This is proof that "defeat" is better defined by those who can not finish the race rather than those who can persevere until they see the final "wave" of the checkered flag!
