2010.04.23 Autopolis – CMS 2010 – “4-Class” Race Commentary & Results

With Uranus Racing receiving new R&D tires from Maranello Italy and hi-tech petrol brewed from the foothills of Tijuana Mexico, the combination turned into a deadly and potent concoction at Autopolis.
After narrowly beating Mark Bos for the qualifying pole, Drew McLean showcased his dominance by claiming victory tonight with his specially equipped Pescarolo Judd. An equally impressive run was put in by both JT Tami and Henry Hudson as they rounded out 2nd and 3rd in the P1 category.
A remarkable display of talent was aired by another Uranus driver, Stephen King, as he takes first place in the P2 class amidst the top five P1 finishers. This is an incredible accomplishment considering his P2 is the benefactor of spent tires, brakes and discarded rotors that are handed down from his brethren team under the Uranus P1 banner. Paul Hamilton hangs in there until the very end, claiming 2nd with a battered Mike Tribble completing 3rd for the final P2 podium.
True grit and determination was found in the GT class. Kevin Cinnamon slaughters the field with his triumphant win, driving home his Uranus 997 Porsche into champagne bliss. Racing for the Uranus definitely has its perks, as the team owners have mandated the use of catheters for all of its SIM racers this year. This strategy seems to have worked as their pitstop times have improved considerably! Tim Collier and Randy Drumhiller finish 2nd and 3rd in their respective Corvettes, giving an extra boost to the stock price of their Detroit sponsors.
But to fight for Glory and Honor, now that’s become the sole plight of our lone GTC warrior. Russ enters each 4-class race with all odds stacked against him. Similar to the 300 Spartans who fought to their death while thwarting the advance of the mighty Immortals at the pass of Thermopylae, so does Standage fight to near exhaustion against any pass attempt by a non-Terrapin at the straights of Autopolis. With stick shift in one-hand and Porsche wheel in the other, Russ battles and lives for another day (pending any upper leg cramps).
