    Default Lost Finale

So, how many of you here have dedicated hours of time over the past 6 years leading up to this Sunday's Final Episode?

I have, and it better not disappoint.

There's so many questions left to answer.

Some will never be answered, but please don't leave the ending to "interpretation"....

We have a group here at work that, every week, spends most of the day after the episode passing emails around talking about what happened, what it means, and why did the writers do that.

Even if the show is a disappointment at the end, I must say it accomplished entertaining me over the years, and creating new friends because of it. Nothing wrong with that.

Never did follow it but I'll probably get the DVD's. I played the video game and it was interesting, but very short. I would imagine they'll leave some questions unanswered, they often do. Read some where they might take it to the big screen.

75% of my household is hopelessly hooked on Lost, for me it is a great time to get some uninterrupted laps in.

Lots of driving time, all of it slow.

I was way into it in the first season, the second season my interest waned since it felt like they were making it up as they went along, and I got sick of countless story arcs starting that had no hopes of being resolved. What people attributed to "mystery" I saw as what happens when you write scripts without clear sense of direction. I got back into it a bit when they announced the series had an end since I knew the story arcs would mostly have endings, but not nearly as into it as the first season.

I was way, way into this final season. It felt like it was coming together, until that first ridiculous smoke monster episode. A true shark jump if I have ever seen one. It was so absurd it put me into a frothing emorage and I deleted it from my DVR queue

My wife has since put it back into the queue, and she still watches both episodes every week, last weeks "pop up video" episode and the new one, but when it comes on I put on the headphones and break out the wheel. She gets mad at my constantly making fun of the absurdity of the writing, mostly about smoke monster jokes and the writers inability to gasp the concept that story arcs must have an arc and not shoot off into space.

So its better for our relationship that I just drive and ignore the TV these days between the smoke monster and Glee's horrific autotune.

I will say this tho: Jack is a colossal ass, and I think he will turn out to be a bigger villain and manipulator then Ben could ever hope to be. Then again, I have been saying that since the first season.

I feel like I wasted six years following this show. When Jack's dad just dismissed everything that came before with, "You were all together and that's all that matters," I wanted to scream. Turns out this show had no more real meaning than Gilligan's Island. After all, we were taught there that even though all the characters were different, they all grew to value each other and their experiences on the island.

The moral of the story is never, EVER trust American broadcast television to deliver a thoughtful drama -- they'll promise the world and deliver emotional glop every time.

    (With a single exception -- Babylon 5)

I wasn't a fan of the show, but I can't say that I'm surprised. I knew right from the start there was no way they were ever going to be able to explain so many splintered story lines. They might as have ended the series with the inexplicable, "It was all a dream."
