Default Darrel Waltrip does a ride along at Bathurst 1000

Ok, you be the judge. Who held it together better DW or Ricardo Patrese's lovely wife?

    DW

    The lovely Mrs. Patrese

Notice Darrel had a death grip on anything he could reach like a cat getting a shampoo, and Mrs. Patrese didnt even have a helmet of 5 point harness like Darrel. Im just sayin...

Well, the first part is right, Troy. That had to be shennanigans. He was squealing like a baby. (Good for bringing in non racer TV fans, I guess?) Next thing you know, there will be rumours of an affair between him and Jason Bright, lol. Where's Anna Kornikova when u need her? Where was Digger, the gopher, too?

Speed TV, just broadcast the races with as little commentary as possible, and more in car laps, and your true fan base will be happy.

I agree. I personally don't need all the goofy side show crap that Nascar fans seem to desire. I actually felt a little bile rise up my throat when DW went into his "boogity" schtick. I was hoping Mike Joy would karate chop him in the throat, but...oh well...at least they showed the race.

Speed's "coverage" is why I only watch the BBC broadcasts of Formula 1.

Amen brother. Also, I watched the Channel 7 Australian broadcast of the Bathurst 1000 as well. While it had plenty of pre show, and a very surreal Australian Country and Western singer, it was 1000 times better than the abbreviated and overly yakity Speed coverage.

Sadly, next year, the Beeb will only be covering about 2/3 of the F1 races. Ulp. Not sure what I'm gonna do.

I hate that aswell. Personally I am watching F1 on BBC only (!). That is since almost three years now, I never watched a single session on german broadcast since then at all, mainly because they are even worse than Speed.

Doesn't really matter if it is german RTL or SKY, they are both horrible. You don't get any background informations, while BBC not only covers the entire race without advertising-breaks, they also have an amazing 50-60 minute buildup and an even better 60-120 minutes afterrace-forum (red button) where you get all informations you can possible want. Also you got the feeling, the guys at BBC know about F1 and have so much passion for it, that you really feel like you are standing next to Jake Humphrey, David Coulthard, Eddie Jordan and Martin Brundle. You also got the impression they are the most neutral broadcasters out there, even though it is understandable they preffer british drivers and teams for interviews, but they feature quite often specials about Alonso, Schumacher, Vettel & Co.

They also care for backmarkers, on some GPs Brundle does his gridwalk starting from the back and you get some really nice impressions about guys like Liuzzi, Glock, Chandhok & Co.

Too sad they have that horrible new deal with covering only 10 GPs next year, even though I read in the past that BBC will cover ALL races on their webstream. As I never watch the races live but download them in Full-HD afterwards, it might be the chance to still see all races with BBC commentary!
