Announcement today that Activision is killing Harmonix, makers of Guitar Hero, ending the run!!! R.I.P.
Actually, Harmonix hasn't been involved with Guitar Hero since 2006. They did Guitar Hero I and II, then when Activision bought Red Octane in 2006, Harmonix was bought by Viacom/MTV. From then on, Guitar Hero development was done by Activision's Neversoft division, and Harmonix went on to create the Rock Band series.
Last December, Viacom sold Harmonix to an investment firm for $50 (yep, $50... plus assumption of about $100 million of debt).
Yesterday, Activision announced it was disbanding its Guitar Hero unit to focus on stuff like Call of Duty.

This was the best news ever! I was so happy! NO MORE carrying Guitar Hero Britney Spears, Guitar Hero Foo Fighters and all the crap they made! It was cool the first couple of years but they weren't worth it. They made 3-5 games a year that wouldn't sell and when they did, we had them on sale just to get rid of the crap. THANK GOODNESS Activision did something right for once.
Now they just need to put Call of Duty down!(& that ain't a joke)

Couldn't agree with you more Kevin, the COD Black Ops was THE worst COD game they put out. I couldn't believe all the crap you had to listen to while waiting for the next op to start. I just about fell a sleep a few times, and then you have that one mission that you don't even do anything, you're just forced to listen to babble for the whole op!
Total waste of money![]()

I agree that the single player is horrible. But I believe most people bought Black Ops for the multiplayer experience. I play it almost every night and I am enjoying it. But I do have to say the single player is the worst of any version to date. There is a video somewhere I heard about where someone completed the single player without having to fire a shot! I am not sure if it is true but it would seem possible from what I have seen.
