    Default Flight Sims

Does anyone here do any flight simulation?

I have been thinking of loading up my MS Flight, I use to relax in the evenings by queing up a flight in a Cesna and I would fly from PDK just North of Atlanta to out of the way airports like Troy Municipal in South Alabama. I am not sure what made me think of this, but thought I would ask.

I've had a version of Flight Sim on every PC's I've owned, except this one. I probably need to pick up a copy actually because I do enjoy them.

However I do not play them quite like you do, Daryl.

    My missions are things like
-land the Sopwith at Meigs during a Chicago thunderstorm with strong gusty winds. You get batted all over the place in that little kite of a plane
-land a Learjet on the the carrier just outside of the Golden Gate bridge (no arrestor cable!!). It can be done, but you cannot take back off. A Cessna can be landed, stopped, turned around, and flown back off.
-Fly down the Vegas strip, or in-between the skyscrapers in NYC...preferably in a fighter. Good choices are a Corsair or a F-18, but anything works as long as its really agile.

Ah man, I LOVE Flight Sims. I've been playing them since I was about four years old, long before I ever stepped behind the wheel of NASCAR Racing and Indycar Racing II.

Races are possible in FSX... maybe an idea for a fun race?!

That plane is the ultimate realization of the driver/pilot asking for more power to the exclusion of everything else!

I spent years as a member of a Gateway virtual airlines. My home was KIAD and I flew a lot of regional routes in the Embraer RJ145's and eventually acquiref full captain status, flying 737's. I also flew some 747's for a virtual UPS airline out of Adak, AK.

I actually had configured a real flight plan to pilot a Piper J-3 around the world. Since there weren't enough actual airports in MS Flight Sim, I had planned to simulate fuel drops at a few stops, but other than that, it would have been legit. The only problem was, that I flew everything in real time. When I flew from DC to Atlanta, I did it in real time, now slewing. So, when I started on my around the world challenge, I made it as far as Nova Scotia, then I got burnt out.

I'd like to get back into again sometime, but for me, flight simming is even more time consuming than sim racing. I took my flight simming very seriously and always treated each flight as if it were real. Yea, I know, it doesn't just sound crazy, it is crazy. Actually, in my defense, at the time I was seriously thinking about becoming an actual licensed pilot and I wanted to fly regional routes out of my home here in Norfolk. However, my brother-in-law had a good friend who was a pilot and after talking to him, I decided I'd stick with my current line of work.

PS - When I was an active pilot at Gateway, I flew a minimum of 3-4 routes a week in real-time. I was also into playing Madden, so every Friday if there was an away game, I would fly the team plan (Yes, it was painted in team colors), to their game, play madden Saturday night, and then fly the imaginary team back on Sunday. I guess I just have one of those obsessive compulsive disorders.

    It's a sickness.

It is the current version of MS Flight Sim Joe. It is a complete version, not an add on. It takes a pretty fast computer to run it with many graphics on though.
