Adjustments for Fanatec Wheels post Patch for Forza 4
I had been using the recommended settings from Fanatec for Forza 4, which had you set the degrees of rotation to 900, but after the most recent patch with Forza that was very twitchy. So I found a post on their blog where they recommend dialing it back to 270. Here is a link

I am using the Fanatec CSR and CSR Elite Pedals, I have the load cell set on max (10) for the Brake, and I am using the following settings with steering set at Simulation Mode in Forza
------
SEN: 270
FF: 100
Sho: 100
ABS: 70
Dri:3
Lin: 0
Dea: 0
Spr: 0
Dpr: 0

I thought Thomas overreacted. It used to be ridiculously easy to catch slides with 900 deg. Now it's about how it should be.
The real problem is that the default setups for the cars are too loose. But because so many play with driving aids and/or non simulation steering, it doesn't really get noticed. On cars with race suspension you can fortunately tune out the unrealistic oversteer.
So I'm still at the original recommended settings, 900 deg, DRI 3, etc.

I wanted to resurrect this thread because I just got my Fanatec CSR Wheel and CSR Elite Pedals last week...and boy am I struggling! I was previously using the Microsoft Wireless FF Racing Wheel and was able to turn clean laps with no problems. The Fanatec seems to introduce a whole lot of instability to my cars and now the slightest over-correction or curb-ride sends me into the back and forth sways, usually resulting in a spin. I thought I was just about good enough to race with you guys in the next series, but now I'm not so sure.
Can those of you that have had this wheel for a while please list the settings you have settled on as the best for Forza 4?
Note that I have all in-game assists off and steering set to simulation. I have tried setting the sensitivity to 270 and 900 degrees and noticed the condition is worse at 900, but even at 270 I find the cars much harder to control than with my MS wheel.
Help!

you may have to try it at 180. See this thread for some more info.

also play between simulation steering and normal steering see if that helps as well.

There's something that has to be off with Forza 4 and the steering because the physics are fine besides having way too much oversteer, which can be corrected through tuning. I use the GT2 wheel/ Clubsport Pedals with the settings..
SEN: 900
FF: 100
Sho: 100
ABS: 40
Dri: mostly set on 2 but sometimes set to 1 or off completely
Lin: 0
Dea: 0
Spr: 0
Dpr: 0
I'v tried the steering at all kinds of sensitivity, but anything lower than 900 seems strange to me. I miss how nice it feels with the force feedback in GT5 and actually feeling when exactly the car will go off balance, but forza is still a solid game. When we ran the Trans-Am season I used all the same settings as above with no aids and Sim steering (w/e that is lol) I found drift set to two was the best setting for the muscle cars.

The DRI setting is really important. I'm still using the recommended setting of 3. It really helps add some of the feel that is missing from the default FM4 feedback signals. It makes it much easier to feel when the rears are giving up.

Thanks for the advice guys! After spending a few hours playing around with the settings, I think I came up with the settings that allow me to feel about as stable as I did with my MS wheel (in simulation steering mode with no assists):
SEN: OFF (or 270)
FF: 100
SHO: 100
ABS: doesn't matter (I like ~80)
DRI: OFF
LIN: 0
DEA: 0
SPR: -1
DPR: 3
It was definitely the "DRI" setting that was causing most of my fits, combined with my inexperience with countersteering at anything greater than 270 degrees of sensitivity. I do like the added steering precision of the higher degrees of rotation when I'm in control of the car, but as soon as I start to wobble or slide, I can't save it for the life of me. As for the "DRI" setting, anything other than "OFF" made the steering oscillate way too much after a turn of the wheel.
Note that I'm sure these settings would be horrible for super-experienced racers who are used to fancy sim racing wheels, but for me and others coming from the el-cheapo MS wheel, I think these settings might be a good way to transition into the Fanatec. After one evening with these settings I am within 3 seconds of my MS wheel lap times using a new wheel and learning to use the clutch and 6-speed shifter for the first time in a racing game.

Cool ...glad u are making progress

Yep...apparently ultra-damped steering is the best way to get the Fanatec to feel and react like the Microsoft wireless wheel.
