All very well thought out and well written responses. It shows that folks know where their limitations are and donít make excuses for it. Iím the same way. For me to get competitive at a particular track like I said takes hours of driving many laps and staring at iSpeed/VRS and MoTec data to determine where Iím lacking. And I love what was said about not being able to commit to slow down enough for a particular corner, etc. because I suffer the same dilemma.

Hence why I need the practice and pour over instructional videos to see how the fast guys do it. Then I need to learn how to apply it myself and for me itís nearly 90% muscle memory, 9% hand/eye coordination and 1% training my mind to slow the hell down so I can get the hole shot out of the corner.

Each time Iíve watched the fast guys drive Iíve determined one thing, they get down the next straight whether long or short a heck of a lot quicker than me. Thatís where almost all my focus goes to get competitive.

    Great dialogue gents.

    Regards.

Regarding the discussion above, I can say it doesn't get any better further up the ladder, at least for me. I think constantly looking upwards and wondering why you aren't faster is something that most people struggle with. I had to take a break from iRacing the last few months because I was getting too frustrated with my pace not improving.

Actually in my case Drew was right, which means not only did I miss last week, but am not ready for this week. But I'll show, I know you guys need that moving chicane to sharpen your reaction times...

My problem is I'm ALWAYS slow in, but not any faster getting out. I like Jimmy's idea of racing yester-you and improve on that, eventually something has got to get better. For myself, when I first joined this group, racing in my computer chair at the desk, it was awful. 10 secs off the pace was normal. A good race rig helped. 5 secs off the pace. Practice, now I'm 2 secs off the pace, but common to it all is the total lack of composure when getting overtaken. So to shave lap times is gratifying, but driving around by yourself is just not the point.
