Man, what a great race! I had a great time with everyone I came in contact with (and I do mean contact!) These cars were on the hairy edge everywhere on this track, so some door-banging was bound to ensue, in the best touring car tradition. I got man-handled out of T1 and fell back to 8th, then had a great time chasing Brette and then Angelo for the first 20 minutes or so. When I got past them I could see Patrice chasing Hernan up ahead, and hoped maybe I could run them down as they fought with each other. Made some gains but couldn't get on Patrice's bumper before Hernan pitted, which gave Patrice a little room to maintain his gap to me until he pitted. I ran well alone for a while, then had an off and lost all that I might have gained. Pitted and came back out right back where I had been behind Patrice 15 minutes earlier. Worked up towards Hernan and Patrice again, then Patrice went off, and a couple of laps later Hernan's pace began to come down as he was clearly struggling with tire wear. I made it to his bumper on the next-to-last lap, but couldn't get by, and finally went off all on my own following too close in the final corner. Was lucky to recover and stay ahead of Brette (or maybe he gifted it to me?) before the line. A thrilling cap to what has been such a fun season in these cars!

    Was interesting.
    Car indeed is good fun.
Unfortunately, lack of practice and health made all more difficult for me.

Early laps were fun, but with the guys around me having a whole season of experience with the car, I was meant to drop back.
Anyway, I enjoyed trying to be consistent on the second part of the race, although a couple of mistakes didnt help.

In the end, a worth experience.

These cars are ridiculously fun! lol

I got tired...bailed out with about 20 minutes to go. I was getting super sloppy anyways. Playing with the car a bit too much, I ended up in a barrier.
Was as good a time as any to call it quits. Wore myself out. Nearly 6 hours in a 1000km event yesterday (not all by myself though) and then 2 hours or so of practice to attempt to find pace (that I never really found) in this Escort......too much for the ole back.

    Lot of fun though.
    Thanks for hosting!

Well, I´m not happy with myself in this race. I did practice well and my off line PB was in the low 40's, but then I saw Snow with 39's. When I joined for the final practice something was working bad, my game was slow, the image was in a stall-go or something like that, it was impossible to drive. So i restarted the game, restart the game booster, check the PC list of process and I was not sure what was happening. But I did not give up and finally the game let me do the qualy and I was 4th. A normal start and I was 3rd with Patrice in my bumper, and he stayed there and tryed to pass me many times, for me it was a great time defending my place for almost 30 minutes. I did my pit and in the exit I rejoin between Angelo and Brette. I was faster than Angelo but not enough to pass him, it was more dangerous that Brette pass me. Then they both pit and I was alone for some minutes. After that I saw Patrice coming out from pit and incredible, I just pass him and we after all that happens were back in the same position, so go on. Then something went wrong, because I saw him teleporting behind and in front of me, if there was a contact I never felted and of course it was not intentional. The final stint with almost no tires in the rear made me drift the car all over the place and trying to contain Kolar. As always nice race and championship so thanks guys for everything.

Having taken the Rift plunge a few days ago, I had some practice laps pre-Rift and some trying to come to grips with VR. What this meant was I hadn't done any long practice sessions and around the 50 minute mark my neck was starting to tire with the added weight, which isn't significant unless it is new. And I woke today with no stiffness and no eye strain so all of that is good. I Q'd about where I usually do and when I took the grid I was hopeful my fps would be sufficient. All went well at the start, someone spun in T1 and I slowed to avoid them which put a gap between me and the next place up the field. I had some bobbles, but also turned a pb - I think I got to the high 42s. I never passed anyone, moved to the side twice for faster cars, and ultimately got lapped fairly late in the race which is nothing new. For me and my new equipment this was a total success. Hopefully I can do some of the NARS runs over the next several weeks to get some Rift time.

Thanks everyone for terrific-ly fun season. And to the Hutchmeister, thanks for pulling all this together for our benefit. It is, as always, very much appreciated!

And I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a happy 2018.

    Take Care

Copied and pasted from the pre-race thread: I posted this just after crashing out last night (but before this thread was up).

Well, what I could SEE of my battle with Mihaley was great fun, but the screen blanking finally caught me out when I was beside him, and I was just guessing at the upcoming corner I couldn't see--guessed wrong, hard hit, and that was enough for tonight.

Happened twenty times at least in just the first ten laps, and it's just killed any chance to finish well.

I had thought it had to be Steam related, since it's happened all day in both rF AND AC (and last week too in AC I realize in retrospect), but maybe the PJ is having problems.
    ---

Congrats to Mihaley for winning it (I assume he did?) and for securing the championship too. You were very strong at the end of the season.

[UPDATE: I've ordered a replacement PJ lamp just in case that's the issue]

I forgot to add that when the race finished and I close the game, the PC had a dialog box from the windows firewall asking permission for Assetto, maybe that was the reason because W10 update the Saturday night

Really sorry to hear about your issues Christopher, it was a blast to race you until you left.

This was another great race for me! This was another very technical track, I knew one part of it from a previous season, but the new sections proved to be really challenging. I was satisfied with my 3rd spot on the grid, I could have done better but failed to nail a perfect lap.

The race start was again perfect to me, while Patrice and Christopher struggled, giving me the lead again. Christopher was on my tail for a few laps, but a few laps in he had some grass-mowing business to take care of, so he disappeared for a while. It took him only a few laps to catch up again, he clearly was much faster than me. But I wasn't going to gift his position back (yeah I know, I'm a bad person doing it especially this time of the year ) , so we had a pretty intense battle when he finally was able to pull alongside and pass me after going side-by-side on the twisty part of the track. I thought he was going to disappear, but somehow I was able to hold on, and a couple of laps later he made a small mistake on the last turn that allowed me to get the inside for T1. Then I saw him going off-track, for a moment I thought I forced him out, slowed down a bit then I saw him disconnect That was pretty much the end of the fun part, from then on I had to fight the track, which was a challenge all the way to the end.

I was wondering how come I was able to get the lead again at the start, and after watching the replay I found out why: both Patrice and Christopher did only apply a small amount of throttle before releasing the clutch, bogging down the engine. I usually apply full throttle and then release the clutch. Is there a reason you guys are doing the way you do? Is what I do wrong for some reason? I never raced in RL, have no idea how they do it, I just want to know if I'm exploiting something that is not supposed to be done...

One thing to verify is whether you have game mode enabled or not, it should be disabled as it does not work very well with AC.

Go to your settings, then Gaming and then Game Mode, switch it off if it's on.

Other than that I heard some people complaining about the latest windows update related to gaming performance, I configured my PC to delay major updates as long as possible...
