Default Historics mid-summer fun race with Lola T70 MKII at Riverside July 16th

Historics mid-summer fun race with Lola T70 MKII at Riverside July 16th

Join us on Sunday July 16th for special fun race with the all new Lola T70 MKII Spyder at Riverside (Nascar layout) in Assetto Corsa. The race is open to all CMS members. This is an opportunity to keep our racing muscle in shape during the summer and have a good time with the all new T70 which is such a wonderful car.

This will be a spec race featuring the Can-Am Lola T70, which requires download of the free mod car and Riverside track

    CAR AND TRACK LINK
    Track download link v1.1 Riverside.

Car download link v0.9 Lola T70 MKII Spyder.

The Lola T70 was the car to beat in the first Can-Am (group 7) championship in 1966. Dan Gurney won the Riverside race with the T70, of course!

The T70 won the USSRC championship in both 1966 and 1967. Lola sold its cars to private teams which used drivers such as George Follmer, Dan Gurney, Mark Donohue, Roger Penske and Buck Fulp.
T70s won the first two rounds of the Can-Am championship in 1966 which was eventually won by John Surtees who was also involved in development of the car.

This event will be standing start. AC now allows gear selection before the green, but be aware that it also allows (and penalizes) false starts! So don't go before the green!

The server is now set for 2 minutes between the Qualifying session expiring and the start of the race. Be sure to check the remaining time when the session advances so as not to get caught out.

The Orange Zone for this event will be through Turn 6 as shown on here on the track map. Note we will use the “Nascar” layout which shortcuts T6 with the “Spike”.

    Race Schedule
    RACE 1
    Practice: 8-8:45 p.m. Central Time (US) - 45 min
    Qualify: 8:45-9:00 p.m. Central Time (US) – 15 min
"Warmup" (track closed): 9:00-9:05 p.m. Central Time (US) - 5 min
    Race: 9:05 p.m. Central Time (US) - 25 minutes

    RACE 2 (approximate time)
No Qualification - reverse grid. There should be about 10 min before start of 2nd race so driver could join or re-join.
    Race: 9:40 p.m. Central Time (US) - 25 minutes

Would be nice a different format this time, just for fun.
Like 2 heats with 25 minutes each...reversed grid. I dont know if its possible in AC do a reversion, though.

Why not! OK for 2 sprint races. I'll double check for the grid, but as far as I know it's not possible in AC.

First post updated, we'll do two sprint race.

Reversed grids are possible for a while, not sure how it is done though, I'll check and get back to you.

Forgot that AC dont support timed races....lol.
I think that for this track, 2 x 20 laps race is fine.

It does support timed race. We just didn't try it yet here, but the option is there. This is a good time to try it out.

Yeah, we definitely should try out these new things (maybe forced pit-stops too in another race).

I looked it up, there's a new option in the server config file:

    REVERSED_GRID_RACE_POSITIONS=N

where N is the number of top positions reversed, e.g. if you put 8 than the first 8 grid positions are reversed, the rest are not. If you put -1 all the grid positions will be reversed.

EDIT: it looks like loop mode needs to be 1 for reversed grid to work

Thanks for setting this up Patrice!

I'll be out of town that day, but would love to join if I get back in time.

Hmmm...T70 MkII Spyders at Riverside. Sounds interesting. I just got A/C thru Steam's summer sale. So, as long as I can make it that day, I would like to give this a try.

I have not tried any online racing in A/C yet. So I might try that this week also. Will there be a CMS practice server up a few days before this event? I would like to try out everything ahead of time.
