I think it would be a better idea if each driver, if he wishes to, to make whatever prayer he wants before he enters chat.
We don't all share the same viewpoints on religion, politics or other personal matters.

Besides, this is a sim, there is not much of a chance for loss of life or limb.

Hey Gary I hear ya and will certainly do what everyone wants. I'm so grateful for all you guys and the ability to do this and I am very confident you would be encouraged by whatever I would say. I usually take a few seconds to lift up the guys in the band I'm in before we take the stage and we are all over the map spiritually too. So I understand and appreciate what you are saying. Even so there is always that dead time as the server is set up and I do think most of us would enjoy a little pause to give thanks before the race. Guys could shut their speakers off for 15 seconds or I could just type a little something in chat and it can be ignored. Whatever, I'm just glad to be able to run with you guys!

Yes, we have the ability to mute or turn off TS, but the point that I was trying to make was that I think it would be best to limit conversation on TS when we are all on the same channel to the subject of racing. I mean, I could start an invocation on the spirit of liberal politics and some might not appreciate that at all...and I know that, so I try not to inject that into the general conversation because it isn't related to the racing and it would probably alienate some drivers. There are some leagues where most if not all of the drivers are "racing with Jesus" and it is perfectly acceptable for that group since they all know that going in, but we are not that.

Some have mentioned keeping the conversation clean, and I agree. I think the operative word is decorum.

Guys first of all good discussion. However Gary is right on this, and I don't want to have any sort of official prayer or organized pre race invocation in our events. Please do not misunderstand me, I personally am religious and thankful, but with any large organization, this one included, not everyone shares or has the same viewpoints on things outside of the racing and sim racing hobby we all have in common here. It's no different than not talking politics or religion in the office, or some of the school prayer stuff. Does it stink to some degree for some of us -- yes it does, but we have to be respectful and mindful that not everyone thinks and views things the same way. We may have two members with very different viewpoints. both with a common interest in racing. One guy could be very religious and the other athiest. One could be very conservative and the other very liberal. I don't want to start getting into that here on the forums, on teamspeak or in the racing. So, with that said, no prayer before the races please as a group. If you want to do something individually by all means do, but let's keep teamspeak and race chat to race matters and non controversial topics! I hope you guys can understand, and if you must chat when the racing isn't going on , talk about what you had for dinner, or American Idol or something -- lol
