GTR Evolution Nürburgring Nordschleife Hotlap Contest! September 2008!

Ok Everyone, I am excited with the upcoming release of GTR Evolution from Simbin to announce the details of our Nürburgring Nordschleife hotlapping contest ... this thread contains the info you need to get involved, submit a time and have fun! As times are submitted I will be tracking them, updating the standings and posting some screenshots!

Running in this is pretty simple, scroll down for what you need and the format and rules.


we will be using GTR Evolution upon it's release in Late August ... The scheduled release date is August 26th in the USA and varies slightly in some other countries.

The first thing you need to do is get the game ordered so you can join in on the fun -- click the logo below to reserve your copy for $19.99 USD ... from Amazon.Com



The following cars will be eligible for the Hotlap Contest. We will have Standings for 2 classes The GT Pro Class and the GT Sport Class. The hotlap contest will begin officially on September 1st and you may submit times as many as you'd like in between The 1st and 30th of September. The contest will end at 11:59pm EST on September 30th. To submit a lap simply post your VCR replay file here in this thread with the time noted that you turned, or you may email it to me. Send me a private message if you dont have my email address. I will validate the time and manage the standings. Please dont try to cheat or manipulate your time, that ruins it for everyone else and it is likely we will know it with our tools should that happen. -- Lets keep it fair and fun.

As far as running your lap you may do so offline and simply save the VCR file for submission, or if you'd like to work on your laps together we have a server up for everyone to use. The server is listed as follows in the GTR EVO lobby

The server is set for continual practice. Remember this is hotlapping not racing each other, so be sure to give plenty of room when on the server with other cars, allow space, and if you make a mistake get off the track quickly as to not impede the lap progress of another car. The server is up 24x7 in the month of September for the contest.
Everyone is eligible to participate in both classes, so you could submit times for a GT Pro Car and a GT Sport Car if you'd like.

At the conclusion of the Contest we will be celebrating our winners -- and this will be a very cool thing for bragging rights for sure. This is one of the most famous and challenging circuits in the world so I am anxious to see the sort of times we can put up. To help you get started please see the attached track guide which will help you prepare.

So, what's the Prize if I win? -- Nothing LOL -- other than you get to be recognized and featured as one hell of a fast sim racer at one heck of a famous track-and we will make a big deal out of it on our website as well as submit results to other communities for your recognition -- so have fun!

Got me going in circles. First it was Race07 and now another which if I was to purchase it would include Racw07, at least as I understand it.

All this for a one race event each game?

Includes RACE 07, featuring its official WTCC license and all 2006 and 2007 WTCC cars and tracks

Yes Mike, I know and I just did purchase Race07 and have it installed and running. I am just disapointed in that I need to purchase another game to run the Nurburgring. When I looked at that game it indicated Race07 is included and thus a one time purchase I could have had both of these race games. I will probably purchase the GTR anyway though the wife looks at me with the, What The H--L are you doing, look in her eyes. Not sure if I should wait for the Evalution first or purchase now, as I'am confused. Not unusual anymore as I easily get lost these days. From an older generation.

If we are only running one race from each game then it doesn't seem as being very cost conscience for my part. Many of the members here might have already purchased these, Race07 and GTR, and been driving them online since they seem to have has been out for a while. I don't expect I will be doing anything else with them unless we do more here. I am not into offline racing. Maybe I need to look around for leagues using these games though the two here, VOR and Champ, are really intense enough it would seem. At least for this young at heart.

Not very race game conscience. GPL, six years and now rFactor with a little Nascar2003 for the Prototypes a couple of years ago. Never could get into the oval Nascars.

Liked the mind games of the Myst series. Not much physical action but good for brain cells. Keeps them hoppin.

Oops, I just went to the Purchase site and it indicates the game is for Vista with no mention of any other Operating Systems. I am XP Home and expect to be so for a while. Any thought on this issue from the informed crowd?

there will be a LOW COST upgrade to Race 07 that will include everything you need... will be released soon I think... prolly around $10.00 US

Larry, we are not necessarily just running one race in GTR evolution Or Race 07 for that matter. I have simply scheduled a special event race in the Radicals in RACE 07, and if it goes well and there is interest we will likely run a GT type series in GTR evolution upon it's release. I am thinking a 6-8 week schedule with GTR evolution. Also the Ring hotlap contest will be another special type of thing for fun, and will likely run over a period of 30 days -- I am thinking the month of September.

Mike Tribble is correct they (Simbin) have indicated that they plan to have an expansion pack available for RACE 07 owners to upgrade to GTR Evolution. While they havent confirmed pricing, it is expected that it could be as low as 10.00 USD. For me, I like to have the media and CD and box, manual, etc, and for 19.99 I still feel like GTR Evolution -- full boxed product is a great deal. So I went ahead and pre-ordered!

Also .. would be nice to keep this contest continuous even after the above mentioned contest for us slow learners...Maybe post the top 10 lappers and we can try to beat them to get our name on the top 10 list maybe 5 pro and 5 sport or something.
