Celebrate Speedweeks and Rolex 24 w/ 2 Special Events! :)

If any of you are like me, you get excited every year about the Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona, because it officially (in many ways) marks the beginning of the racing season -- after the holidays. At least here in the US!

This week's race is on the weekend of January 26, and I am sure many of us will be tuning into the 17+ hours of coverage on TV . Another thing that Tim Collier, Philip Brown and I have done for several years now is stay up late on the Champion Ventrilo Server, watching the coverage and talking about racing. It's one of the funnest nights of the year for us and we always have a contest to see who can stay up the latest !

This year I am pleased to announce 2 special events surrounding the Rolex 24! So come on Guys, let's get into it and have some fun!!!

Event #1



Friday Night January 25th, we will have a Champion Fun Series Special Event race at Daytona Road Course in GTR2, with the Radicals Mod! This will be a one hour race, and details are enclosed here. The Radicals are very fun, and driveable Sportscars that were recently converted from RACE '07 to GTR2. If you want more general information on the cars you can get it at this link ... Please indicate your interest in attending (sign-up) here in this thread. I want to thank Charlie Gog for suggesting this and helping put it together. It would be great if we could rally around this and make this a really fun and memorable special event ... Charlie has been kind enough to sponsor this race with the HRM Club and provide the Dedicated server.

Race Details and What you need

Server Name = -=HRM Support Server=- ; remember this is GTR2.
Password = HRMCMS (all Caps)

Server will be up in the GTR 2 lobby, and on race night will follow this schedule.

Open for Practice at 7pm CST/8pm EST for 120 minutes
Qualifying for 20 Minutes will be at 9pm CST / 10pm EST
Race for 1-hour will follow shortly after (approximate start 930 CST/1030 EST)

You will need the following to participate

A) a working installed copy of GTR2. If you dont have the game you can get it either at your local Best Buy or Wal-Mart for $19.99, and they have a special edition that includes GT Legends. A Super Value. If that doesnt work for you, simply order it from GOGAMER .

B) this GTR2 Version of Daytona Roadcourse

C) The Radical Sports Car Mod for GTR2 which we will be racing


Event #2



This year we are proud to extend our Annual Daytona Rolex 24 Watching and Listening Party to everyone in the community here at Champion. This will be on Saturday night 1/26, which also happens to be the same night that we already have a Champion Motorsports ORR 2 Race at Prairie City!!! So, immediately following the ORR 2 race, lets continue on with watching and listening to the Rolex 24. It will still be on Speed Channel, as well as a Live Radio Broadcast (that goes 24 hours) and live timing and scoring. I know it sounds goofy, guys, but we usually have lots of fun with this and I hope some of you will want to join us. We talk, share laughs, discuss racing, and run laps at various tracks; including Daytona while we are up... We also get to have a fun contest to see who can stay up the latest, who crashes first etc. Tim, Philip and I have been up in the past for one of Dale Earnhardts last races, we've seen Triumphs and Failures in the middle of the night of some of our favorite race teams, and it's generally been just a great time. So, join us on 1/26 for some fun!! Cya There.

I wanted to throw this option out to everyone who is signing up -
There are 4 types of Radicals:
205 hp
230 hp
250 hp
RMI Special Editions

As of now the server is set on the 250's but if you guys want to mix in the others or run one of the other ones I can set it up for that.

They're all fun to drive but IMO the 205's and the RMI's are the best.

For those that want to tweak it here is a "VERY" base set up for the 252's.
I do recommend that we either use the 205's or the RMI's they just seem heaps more stable.

Charlie, I vote for the RMI's. I tried the cars tonight and I felt like that one handled very well and I like the default setup too as a starting point for making a Daytona Setup. I only spent about 10 minutes, but here is what I came up with for a very initial base setup for Daytona. I am sure we'll need one of the setup Guru's like Bob to tweak this and post something better that we can start with ...
