Default Bob Dunlop wins again at Oulton Park!!!

Congratulations to Bob Dunlop for yet another win, his fourth in an many races, by starting from from the pole position and leading all 25 laps!!

It was a packed field tonight with 12 entries, and I'd like to think there was great racing all around the track, I personally had a great duel all night with Mike Tyler in one of the most competitive, clean races for position that I can recall in recent memory!!!

Thanks Bob, but we're not THAT good, otherwise we would have seen your car at some point during the race!!! LOL!!!

Mike and I raced hard, but didn't hit each other (well, not that hard anyway!), and when I somehow managed to outbrake him into the second gear right hander, a big smile came across my face as if I had just won the race! Mike, you're a hell of a driver and a great competitor, and I'm proud to know you buddy!!

MAN! What a great race! It was nice to see so many cars on the track too.

I made the mistake of qualifying in race trim so I started a bit further back on the grid that I was originally hoping for, but in the end it couldn't have turned out any better. Tim and I had a great duel that started very early in the race and lap after lap we went back and forth. Eventually Tim made a truly outstanding pass just as we headed into Lodge Corner. In fact I even blurted out loud, "What the Heck?!?" I thought I had closed the door, but I guess I didn't close it enough because we were door handle to door handle through the corner and back into Deer Leap and he made it stick. Honestly, it was one of the best and boldest passes I've seen yet and Tim was very well deserving of the position.

Unfortunately the chase ended not too long afterwards and we came up on traffic and soon afterwards I got a nice little shove at the Island Bend hairpin. that set me back and damaged the car enough to change the handling. But I had already used up my tires so there was little chance of catching Tim.

Or... so I thought. Tim had some sort of off track excursion and I drove past back into second place with just two laps to go. But just as I was thinking, "Tim drove a great race and I really hate to take a position like that." I screwed up the entry into the chicane, where I had already received a warning for cutting the track during the earlier battle with Tim. I basically over shot the corner and spun in a desperate attempt not to get caught cutting the corner again and Tim drove back into the position that he had so rightly earned.

My only regret of the night was a shunt I had with Mike Tribble. I think it was Mike that bumped me at the hairpin. And for me it was no big deal really, just one of those racing incidents, but as I was trying to get back by him and pick up the chase for Tim on worn tires with an ill-handling car I left the car drift out at Clay Hill and Mike got shoved out into the grass and the wall too I think. (I need to see the replay to be sure.) Anyway I was really sorry about it because the timing of the incident must have come across as a classic case of payback, but I swear that wasn't the case. My apologies Mike.

Except for that one incident though, it was a tremendously fun and exciting race and I'm really looking forward to the next race. Congratulations to Bob on yet another dominating flag-to-flag performance and to Tim for an absolutely brilliant drive and hard-fought and well-earned second place! I can't wait to see the replay!

Lots of fun. I really am enjoying these races. Congrats to Bob on another win! You have been on fire man!!!! Looking forward to next time. As far as my race, I pretty much didnt get to practice this track until an hour or so before the race. I was able to get down to a 1:41.xxx lap for qualifying which put me about 7th. I didnt move up really at all, and in fact finished 9th. But had fun!

Mike it's my fault totally! Sorry bout the punt at the hairpin. These things don't want to slow down sometimes I had already overcooked the corner and your bobble and miraculous save was not the cause of my woes.

David Anderson and I had a spirited race at the back of the pack for several laps until he went wide into the 2nd gear right hander and I snuk past only to blow it a little later and let him back by. We kept it up and I passed him again and was cruising until the front runners came by and I mistakenly let David and Paul by thinking they were chasing Bob Tim and Mike. I wish the name showed up in the rear view mirror then I would know who I was racing with and not pull over for the guys chasing me. Oh well, live and learn! Other than my own faux pas I had an enjoyable race until I cranked it into the wall and broke my toy!

    See ya next time!

    Some pics from the race...

...I set my res high for the replay but after I had gotten 45 minutes into capturing I realised I had not maxed out the in-game graphics, D'oh! I am only posting 4 because I don't want to take up too much space here.

By the way Mike (and everyone else) to see the name of drivers behind you first make sure you have the names toggle on then either have a button for look-back or press your look-left and look-right buttons at the same time.
Oh, and don't be a schmuck like me and run off the track while looking back to see the name of the driver who went off from in front of me...D'oh AGAIN!
